This 4 days double gorilla trekking experience is a breathtaking adventure which will take you to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park or Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with Mountain Gorillas.
Uganda offers an exciting experience to see mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. This safari itinerary typically includes scenic drives to and from the park, a fully-guided double gorilla trekking experience, as well as sighting other wildlife species along the trails. The trek allows visitors to spend up to one hour observing a habituated gorilla family or up to four hours for a unique gorilla habituation experience, guided by expert wildlife ranger guides and trackers.
Enjoy an early morning breakfast, then join your private safari guide on a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park – home to the endangered mountain gorillas.
Along the way, you will enjoy a scenic long drive with lunch en-route and other stops for beautiful landscape views. Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon for dinner & overnight rest.
Today you will embark on your first gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable or Mgahinga National Park depending on where your gorilla permits are allocated. Have an early breakfast, grab your packed lunch box, meet your safari guide, and head to the park offices for a safety briefing.
In groups of up to 8 people, you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek and head into the forests accompanied by experienced ranger guides and trackers. The trek takes approximately 2–4 hours or more depending on gorilla movements. As you search for these gentle giants, listen to the sounds of nature and keep an eye out for golden monkeys and vibrant bird species.
When you encounter your assigned family, observe them in total awe for one unforgettable hour. Afterward, trek back to the park office, meet your guide, and return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
After an early morning breakfast, return to the park headquarters for your second extraordinary gorilla trekking adventure with a packed lunch. You will be assigned a different gorilla family, providing a completely fresh perspective and dynamic observation experience.
Hike into the dense rainforest guided by expert trackers. The trek takes approximately 2–8 hours or more depending on where the gorillas nested the previous night. Once found, spend a magical hour observing their social interactions, playing juveniles, and powerful silverbacks.
Return to the trailhead to receive your trekking certificate, meet your driver guide, and head back to the lodge for a relaxed evening, dinner, and overnight stay.
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and begin your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport.
Enjoy stops along the way for lunch, as well as a stopover at the Uganda Equator line for photography, souvenir shopping, and water balance demonstrations. Arrive in Kampala/Entebbe in the late afternoon/evening.
